Reopening of Chapel for Sunday Services

Sunday Services are starting again with private services (please book in advance) for meditation and private prayer. We'll be holding these on the 21 and 28 June and 5 July, from 10:30 to 12:00

We hope to be back to normal (with appropriate social distancing) from the 12 July.

We have masks and hand sanitiser available for all attendees.

Welcome to Effra Road Chapel, the spiritual home of Brixton’s freethinkers since 1839.

Our Unitarian theology / spirituality is: liberal Christian; multi-faith; humanist; inclusive; ever evolving; and embracing of those of all faiths and none.

Sunday Service: We meet most Sundays at 10:30am to 11:30am to enjoy readings, music, singing, meditation / prayer, quietness, reflection, peace and encouragement, followed by fellowship over refreshments. Refreshments are also served before the service. Do drop-in if we sound like your cup of tea. You will be made very welcome without too much fuss.

We also provide:

Ministry, supplying professional spiritual leadership and pastoral support to us and the wider community.

Ceremonies: Christenings / namings, weddings, blessings, funeral and memorial services

Same-sex weddings. Unitarians were the first religious group to conduct same-sex weddings in the UK, and we remain pioneers in this area, our chapel being the first and still only place of worship in Brixton to be so registered.

Other communuty support, the hall for example being home to several groups, including Brixton Legal Centre run by our honorary minister who is also a barrister.
